A popular Quad Cities retirement home is celebrating a major milestone. Davenport’s Ridgecrest Village turned 50 years old Friday. The anniversary event was called ‘Echoes of the Past’. Staffers and residents celebrated with a picnic, a car show and a look into the history behind Ridgecrest. There was also a dunk tank and a race for seniors. People who live at Ridgecrest says the fact that it’s a non-profit is what makes being there so special. “We love Ridgecrest, we really love Ridegecrest,” said Barb Thede, a resident. “We have a lot of fun, a lot of activities. We’re family. We care for each other. We’re very, very happy here,” said Dixie Wince, another resident. Some major accomplishments over the years include expanding Ridgecrest’s health center and adding state-of-art assisted living apartments.
