Back on firmer ground, the plot of the next "PAW Patrol" movie has been officially outlined. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie" will follow the pups obtaining superpowers after a meteor crashes into Adventure City, their city of operation. With their new powers, the PAW Patrol becomes the Mighty Patrol. Does this more or less confirm the MCU parallels? Yes, yes it does. Is this also basically the plot of "DC League of Super Pets?" Yes, it is also that, too.
The Mighty Patrol got their start in the animated series, where the pups had abilities like super strength, flight, and pyromancy. One of them was literally a copyright-safe Green Lantern, for whatever that might be worth. Their powers tended to come and go, depending on the needs of the story, so there's no final word as to whether the new movie will prove to be a permanent change for the growing film franchise. At least Cal Brunker, the director of the first film, will be returning, so expect artistic consistency in the magical puppy cop property.
