A mysterious new Pokemon has started appearing in Pokemon Go. This new Pokemon has never been seen in any Pokemon generation and is the first unique pocket monster to appear in Pokemon Go. The curious new Pokemon can be seen below.
The unnamed Pokemon started appearing in the Asia-Pacific region for a brief period after Pokemon Go Community Day ended. When trainers attempt to catch the new Pokemon, they are unable to register it with the Pokedex. Instead, the Pokemon turns into the shape-shifting Pokemon, Ditto, upon completion of the catch.
Since it’s initial release, the new Pokemon has come and gone from Pokemon Go. It seems to be staying in any given region for intervals of 30-minutes before then disappearing. Could this be a generation eight Pokemon or maybe Pokemon Go will be getting its own line of exclusive catchable creatures?
A similar thing happened earlier in the week when trainers began to see Kecleon in the wild. Kecleon is a generation three Pokemon that has yet to be released into Pokemon Go. Earlier this week when trainers tried to catch Kecleon, it once again turned into a Ditto.
It is yet to be determined if these releases are on purpose or not. Niantic has yet to make an official announcement about either of these Pokemon. This does line up with a previous Niantic announcement that a never before seen Pokemon will be available to transfer from Pokemon Go into the upcoming Pokemon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee.
It is assumed that we will get an official announcement about the mysterious Pokemon soon. With the release of Pokemon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee right around the corner, expect to get confirmation on the status of the new Pokemon soon. Until then, Niantic has just released the Pokemon Go region exclusives; Kangaskan, Tauros, Farfetch’d, and Mr. Mime into eggs for the first time. Along with this, Mewtwo has joined basic raid battles for a limited time.
