The season 5a finale ended on quite a cliffhanger — Lucifer (Ellis) and Amenadiel (Woodside) were duking it out with their brother Michael (Lucifer's twin) when God (Haysbert) finally decided to make his first appearance on the show just in time to stop the fight. It's been confirmed that season 5b will pick up right where season 5a left off, so expect the show to deal with the fallout.
Look for the show to get even darker, too. Co-showrunner Joe Henderson told Entertainment Tonight that season 5b is the "most emotional season of the series so far," and even though "lightness is mixed in [...] 5B will both be both brighter and even darker still [...] it's always darkest before the dawn."
We're going to guess that some of that lightness he mentioned is going to come early on in the season. We know, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, that one of the first episodes of season 5b is a full-on musical. The episode is titled "Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam," and it's just not possible for something as cool-sounding as that to be terribly dark, right?
