Trophy and achievement hunters always have to prepare for massive RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3. Depending on the list, it can be harder or easier for people. One of the biggest headaches in any game is a difficulty trophy, so with Baldur’s Gate 3 out, you may wonder if there is one. With the three difficulty options, you can easily ramp up how much of a challenging experience you want. Let’s look at the list and what you should expect when embarking on this fantastical journey.

What You Should Expect Regarding a Difficulty Trophy in Baldur’s Gate 3

Critical Hit is the requirement to complete the game in Tactician mode. This trophy in Baldur’s Gate 3 will be challenging as the combat is already tough in the default mode, Balanced. You will want to ensure a strong party composition and sound strategy during every encounter. Below we have listed what you can expect when playing in Tactician mode:

  • Enemies have a higher Armor Class (AC).
  • Increased hit points for enemies.
  • Increased damage to the party by enemies.
  • Environmental effects are more varied and deadlier.

Much of this is combat-centered. So, if being strategic is not your strongest quality, then you may want to try to avoid combat as much as possible to earn this difficulty trophy in Baldur’s Gate 3. Playing multiplayer can also help if you have some trustworthy friends to aid you on this quest.

One of the things we will recommend is not to play this mode for your first campaign. Try to earn the other trophies/achievements during your first run before tackling one of the hardest ones to achieve. Learn the basics and then build yourself up, learning the complexities during a first playthrough. Once you feel you have mastered this, or have a firm grasp, then you can use that knowledge to earn Critical Hit.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC, including Steam Deck support. The PS5 version will be released on September 6. An Xbox port is in the making but not expected until at least 2024.
