A man was rescued Friday evening from the Sylvan Slough area in Moline after he became disoriented, firefighters said.
Moline Fire Department crews responded to a call of a man in distress in the Mississippi River shortly before 5 p.m. Friday.
Firefighters told Our Quad Cities News that the man had been fishing along the Sylvan Slough when he had a medical issue and went into the 46-degree water. Crews from Rock Island Arsenal and Moline Police – who used a drone to help locate he man – and fire departments responded to the scene.
Firefighters rescued the man and took him to a waiting ambulance, which transported him to a Quad City hospital for observation.
