There was a special guest on the golf course at the John Deere Classic Wednesday afternoon.

Country singer Lee Brice is set to perform Wednesday night at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf. It’s a charity concert to help raise money towards John Deere’s Birdies for Charity. All proceeds will go towards the Bonus Fund to help Birdies for Charity organizations. 

Doors open at 6:30p.m. for the concert a the Waterfront Convention Center, and the concert kicks off at 8p.m. Admission is a $125 donation towards the Bonus Fund.

But before hitting the stage, the award-winning singer and songwriter played a round of golf during Pro Am day at the John Deere Classic. He played with his brother, Lewis Brice, who is also Lee’s opening act. 

Brice said he’s spent the last few days on the course, and says he was pretty happy with his performance on the course. 

“You know what it was pretty good for my standards lately,” said Brice. “We had a chance to get a couple rounds in before so I got to play out here a couple days in a row. We loved it. I hit a couple good shots, that’s what golf is about you know? That’s what makes it addictive. You know you hit a bunch of bad shots but when you hit a good shot every now and then it’s worth it.”  

But for the country music sensation it’s less about the game and more about being in good company, saying he’s enjoyed spending time with the John Deere community the last couple days.  

“So far it’s been John Deere,” said Brice. “All the families, the friends of John Deere it’s just been three days of relaxing, getting to know good people and you know, playing some really good golf around here. It’s kind of insane all the great courses around this area.”

Brice says the best part about the Quad Cities is being able to play golf and music in the same spot, all while raising money for a good cause. 

“We just love to do whatever we can do for John Deere and for everything that they stand for and so to be a part of this whole weekend is such a big honor and like I said you can’t get much better people than this family right here.” 

When asked if he sees more performances in the Quad Cities in the future, the singer says he definitely hopes so.
